The legislative committee is the unit that serves as a link between members of CSPERA and the Colorado General Assembly. It is responsible for developing and implementing legislative strategies that reflect the association’s priorities and keeping members informed of legislation that affects the lives of our retirees.

Pension Issues
This Pension Issues area is offered as a source of information about pension issues facing CSPERA and its members and their beneficiaries.

Colorado is one of the states affected by WEP/GPO. These laws limit the benefits from Social Security earned by some of our members. Information on WEP/GPO can be found at this link: www.ssfairness.com. Please go there to find updated information on actions being taken to address this issue.

Report on the March 25, 2009 Session of the Joint House/Senate Education Committee
The retiree turnout for this meeting was great. The room was filled and audio had to be set up in an overflow room for those who could not get in the hearing room. [read more]
 

CSPERA Legislative Accomplishments

1969-Credit of 1 percent HAS for years 21 through 40 was started

1971- Reduced service retirement available at age 55 with 20 years of service

1985-PERA subsidized Health Care Program established

1989-Troopers benefits increased
